How can students contact you?
Students can contact me by completing this form. Feel free to ask me any questions about my experiences as a transfer student at UConn!
Tell us about yourself.
I am very dedicated to my academics but it’s important to me to maintain a fun, balanced lifestyle! In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my friends, family, and my aussie doodle, Romeo! I love to stay active and work out at the Rec Center or go for long walks around campus with my friends. When it’s nice weather, I love spending time outside whether that’s going to the beach, reading a book on a sunny day by Mirror Lake, or watching the sunset. I also have a passion for baking and can be found baking treats as a stress reliever. I also love watching UConn basketball and can’t wait to cheer on the Huskies in Gampel once again!
What is your favorite spot on campus?
One of my favorite spots on campus is Horsebarn Hill. It is so relaxing to go for long walks there and visit the cows! It is also really cool to go up on the hill on a nice evening and see so many UConn students hanging out with their friends! In the evenings, you can get an amazing view of the sun setting on all of campus. And if you’re up early enough, you can also get a view of the sunrise (I have only experienced this once!). Having a picnic on Horsebarn Hill is definitely one of my favorite ways to relax and appreciate time spent with friends!
What do you love most about being a UConn student?
I love that at UConn, I am free to become the person I want to be! UConn has so much to offer for every type of person that you get to create the experience you are looking for. There is not one “right” way to spend your four years here at UConn which is something I really appreciate. Despite all of the various opportunities and activities you can get involved with, there is a strong sense of the UConn community that brings us all together! You can feel it in the student section of basketball games, working with your peers in classes, or speaking with UConn alumni. UConn is a place full of students and faculty from so many backgrounds with different ideas, experience, and dreams, yet everyone is willing to support each other and proud to be a Husky!
What is your best advice for a UConn transfer student?
My best advice for a UConn transfer student is to be patient with yourself! Although you may expect (and really want) transferring to feel better automatically, it takes time for things to fall into place. It’s easy to become overwhelmed and worried about getting involved and meeting people. However, you have to be patient in finding what clubs, organizations, or classes fit you best. You have to put yourself out there and try new things even if it’s scary! That’s how eventually you will find what/who truly makes you happy here at UConn and everything will fall into place after!
